  1. “FTD” was one of the the best title tracks to any of Elvis’ post-army films.
    The Colonel should have pulled the plug right after VIVA LAS VEGAS (’64). Some of the worst music ever recorded came from those mid to late ’60s Elvis epics.
    A young Tom Petty saw FTD being filmed near Gainesville and that motivated him into making music.

    • I’d heard that story about Petty — very cool. There are some musical gems in those post “Viva Las Vegas” movies, but I have to confess that I enjoy watching Elvis sing almost anything. The charisma generally wins the day.
