  1. And 2 or 3 years later they had all lawyered up and were fighting like hell over the money. It’s still good music, and it makes me feel good about life’s possibilities, even if it’s a lie. Maybe it’s because I know that it’s a lie, but a necessary lie, that it has such a powerful mythic hold. BTW, by “middle class” I don’t mean to imply mediocre. Dickens was essentially a middle class novelist, and Jane Austen was a fringe upper middle class one, but both were great artists who were deeply rooted in their contexts, while also transcending them.
