Adrienne and Bill, my New Orleans hosts, sent me off on my drive home with two huge muffulettas from the Central Grocery in the French Quarter, which makes the best ones. The sandwiches sustained me on a long four-day drive and kept my memories of The Crescent City fresh.

That reminds me — the other night I tried out a New Orleans restaurant here in Las Vegas, Lola’s. Excellent red beans and rice — and they had Abita Amber beer. No local source yet for muffulettas.
