  1. I thoroughly enjoyed your dissection of Drew Casper. I went to USC and took 4 of his classes. 4!! And he was so full of hot air and full of himself. Thanks for an enjoyable read.

  2. Hello! I watched your blog, it’s amazing. Thank you for posting pictures, espesially album’s covers, that’s a really nice styles and good taste(also Norman Rockwell is awesome). And I get aquainted with great songs, I didn’t know, thanks again! Enjoyable blog. Really, I’m nor often write to strange ppl from internet, but this kinda of stuff just moved me. Great work (or fun)=)
    From Russia. Yaroslav.

  3. I wanted to say ‘thank you’ .. I stumbled on your blog after googling ‘ Victorian Academic Art’ & then got transported all over the place following your hugely enjoyable postings !
By way of return some ( very random ) things it occurs to me you may enjoy & might perhaps have missed ( I grew up in England & live in Kent ):

‘ Snow 1963 ‘( Geoffrey Jones) : an 8 minute short of the UK railways of that winter (easily found on You Tube).

‘I Am Love ‘(‘ lo sono amore ‘ ) : 2009 film starring Tilda Swinton

‘Diva’ / ‘Subway’/’ Le Grand Bleu’ : 1980s French art house movies .. full of stuff -you -miss -the -first -time -you -watch -them and ..I especially love the last of these , think is so beautifully made in every regard.

‘ Gregory’s Girl ‘ ( Bill Forsyth 1981) : Quirky , full of background jokes & amazing performances from ‘ ordinary’ Scottish kids.

    Many Thanks Again
    With Best Wishes

    Sophie

    • Hey, Sophie — thanks for your note. So glad you enjoy the blog. I know some of the films you mention, will look out for the others!

  4. Did you ever write about Sweet Smell of Success? I watched it tonight for the first time. Lovely James Wong Howe photography and lots to like, but what a nutty piece of work that is, that a man should love a sister so.

    • I’ve never written about it but I like it a lot, dark as it is. Kevin was especially fond of the line “Come back, Sidney — I want to chastise you”, and of course found many occasions to use it.

  5. I DON’T HAVE A COMMENT. MY QUESTION IS FROM THE MOVIE “THE WILD BUNCH”, I’M TRYING TO FIND THE LARGEST PHOTO OF THE 7 RIDERS COMING RIGHT AT THE CAMERA. IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIND ONE? THANK YOU- PLEASE REPLY
